2022-23 Panini Prizm Basketball Set for April Release

The inaugural release arrived when Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Kawhi Leonard and Damian Lillard were youngsters. Eleven years later, Panini doesn’t make any bones about it.  2022-23 Prizm Basketball is “the most popular release of the year.”  The release date has now been set: April 12, barring any delays.

It’s been quite a ride for the shiny brand that’ll offer up a lot of parallels and keeps your fingerprints on the front if you’re not careful. Prizm’s appeal depends on who you talk to but the rookie cards and their colored options now have a decent history to draw from.

The Hobby box configuration remains 12 packs/12 cards and 12 box cases.  There will also be smaller Choice (a single eight card pack) and Fast Break (ten packs of nine cards) branded options.  The latter two will offer their own exclusive parallels.

Each Hobby box will carry two autographs, 22 Prizm parallels and ten insert cards. Black, Black Gold, Gold, and Mojo Prizms will be among the parallels on the checklist and all will be Hobby box exclusives.

There was no immediate word on the size of the base set but last year’s product had a 330-card checklist.

Look for autographs from the Signatures, Rookie Signatures, Sensational Signatures and Champion Signatures subsets. Fast Break boxes will have their own exclusive Fast Break Signatures cards.  Rookie Signatures are Hobby exclusive.

Among the Champion Signatures cards is one of Steph Curry posing with the O’Brien Trophy and offering his “night night” celebration pose. That one should be popular with Warriors fans–not so much with Celtics backers.

Among the new inserts is Luck of the Lottery which has players posing in their draft day suits.

Returning inserts include Fireworks, Prizmatic, Widescreen and Fearless.

Again, the parallels will be plentiful for all autographs and inserts.

SRP is a tad less than $350 per box.
