2022 Panini Legacy Football Set to Arrive Prior to Pre-Season Kickoffs

With NFL training camps just a month or so away, we’re getting an early look at one of the first  football card products dated to the new season.  2022 Panini Legacy is set to make its return and currently has a release date of July 27.

Legacy offers 16 packs per box with eight cards per pack.  Cases will have 24 boxes.

An average box should contain two autographs, four Opti-Chrome cards, two minis, 12 inserts and four parallels.  Every eighth box should have a Dare to Tear rip card.

(Note that some of the images of Legacy’s rookie cards are mock-ups using members of last season’s class as Panini works to create images of newly drafted players).

The base set will consist of 200 cards:  100 veterans, 60 rookies and 40 retired stars.  Among the parallels will be autographed versions, Opti-Chrome and minis.

Rookie autographs can be found in Future Rookies Patch autographs, which will have dual versions.

Future Ink Combos focus on young players while Legacy Patch Autographs will contain a mix of current stars and former greats.

The calling card for Legacy is its Dare to Tear rip cards that offer the option to tear open the top card and see who’s on the mini card that’s inside. Sometimes it works out, other times collectors find it might have been best to leave well enough alone.

New this year are Saga Dare to Tear cards that feature images from a player’s college and NFL careers.

A new insert touted by Panini is Time Machine, which features a checklist of top current and former stars.

Under the Lights is back and will have mini autographed parallels.

Lore, featuring former stars, and Destiny will both be short printed inserts.

SRP for 2022 Panini Legacy is just under $100 per box.  You can probably expect to pay more in the current market.
