2022 Topps Chrome Black Baseball returns for a third year and will feature a star-studded rookie class.
While it carries the Chrome name, Black is a standalone release.
Hobby boxes will again include four cards and one encased autograph per box. The other three cards will be two Chrome base cards and one Refractor or better parallel. There are 12 boxes per case.
Base Set
Chrome will offer some updated content. Rookie CJ Abrams, who was traded from the Padres to the Nationals around the trade deadline, will be sporting the Washington red, white and blue in the product. Abrams is just one of the headlining rookies in the 100-card base set. With just two base cards per box, it’ll take some effort to piece one together.
A new addition to this years set is a Base Set Rookie Design Variation falling one per case. Collectors can chase Red Refractors #’d to 5 and 1-of-1 SuperFractors of the Rookie Design Variations.
The base set parallels are as follows:
Refractor Parallel – #’d to 199
Purple Mini-Diamond Parallel – #’d to 150 (New to 2022 Topps Chrome Black)
Green Refractor Parallel – #’d to 99
Green Atomic Refractor Parallel – #’d to 99
Blue Refractor Parallel – #’d to 75
Gold Refractor Parallel – #’d to 50
Gold Mini-Diamond Parallel – #’d to 50 (New to 2022 Topps Chrome Black)
Orange Refractor Parallel – #’d to 25
Magenta Refractor Parallel – #’d to 10
Red Refractor Parallel – #’d to 5
SuperFractor Parallel – #’d 1-of-1
Autographs
2022 Topps Chrome Black keeps it simple by offering just two different autograph sets: Chrome Black Autographs and Super Futures Autographs. As mentioned above, the autographs will be encased.
Veteran superstars like Shohei Ohtani will headline the veteran autograph checklist while top rookies like Julio Rodriguez and Bobby Witt Jr. lead the rookie checklist.
The parallels for the Topps Chrome Black Autographs are as follows:
Refractor Parallel – #’d to 150
Green Refractor Parallel – #’d to 99
Gold Refractor Parallel – #’d to 50
Gold Mini-Diamond Parallel – #’d to 50 (New to 2022 Topps Chrome Black)
