2022 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball to Debut in November

There’s something about sports cards and space that seems to appeal to trading card companies.  The latest to blend a galaxy vibe with baseball comes in the form of 2022 Topps Cosmic Chrome, a new product set to make its debut just about the time the World Series is coming to an end.

Forget ballplayers pictured in ballparks. Cosmic Chrome will have plenty of shiny and plenty of abstract.

2022 Topps Cosmic Chrome Configuration and Base Set

Each box will have 20 packs.  Autographs will be found in every third box.

The base set will consist of 200 cards focused on both rookies and current veterans with these parallels set for production:

• Refractor: 1:10 packs.
• Nucleus Refractor: 2 per box.
• Blue Moon Refractor: sequentially #’d to 99.
• Gold Interstellar Refractor: sequentially #’d to 50
• Orange Galactic Refractor: sequentially #’d to 25.
• Black Eclipse Refractor: sequentially #’d to 10.
• Red Flare Refractor: sequentially #’d to 5.
• Superfractor Parallel: #’d 1/1.

Inserts

Supernova will be limited to 100 and feature what Topps calls “the most explosive players in MLB.”  There will be Black Eclipse Refractors numbered to 10; Red Flare Refractors numbered to 5 and 1/1 SuperFractor parallels.

Launched Into Orbit is another insert.  They’ll be found on the average of two per box, with the same parallels as found in Supernova.

Youth Invasion inserts are case hits with Red Flare Refractor and SuperFractor parallels.

Found about five per box, Star Gaze will have a more robust parallel checklist including:

• Gold Interstellar Refractor: sequentially #’d to 50.
• Orange Galactic Refractor: sequentially #’d to 25.
• Black Eclipse Refractor: sequentially #’d to 10.
• Red Flare Refractor: sequentially #’d to 5.
• SuperFractor Parallel: #’d 1/1.

Rocket Arms will be found one in every five packs with Black Eclipse, Red Flare and SuperFractor parallels.

With only four autographs per case, you’ll have to be a little lucky but here’s a look at the autograph subsets that are planned:
