Last week our shop recieved its first shipment of 2021-22 Prizm Basketball retail boxes. Consisting of four card packs with 24 packs per box, they include 24 inserts or parallels per box, on average. So basically you should be getting an insert in every pack you open.
We sell sealed boxes for $140 and packs for $7.
Obviously with this still being a product from last year, you’re looking for rookie cards of Detroit Pistons sharpshooter Cade Cunningham, Cleveland Cavaliers versatile big man Evan Mobley, Oklahoma City Thunder triple double machine Josh Giddey as well as NBA Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes and Rockets youngster Jalen Green.
To keep this “brief” in keeping with the title of this ongoing series, I won’t bore you with going through every card in the 24 pack box.
The first solid rookie we pulled was a base card of Jonathan Kuminga of the Warriors. After a short drought on rookies the box redeemed itself as we pulled both of the aforementioned Scottie Barnes and Jalen Green base rookies.
We pulled a handful of the rookie subset Emergent cards with two of the bigger stars in the rookie class in Mobley and Green coming our way.
We also snagged two of the Team USA subset cards one Anthony Davis (green parallel) and the other Khris Middleton.
The 75th Anniversary celebration of the NBA is represented well in this product as we pulled a 75th anniversary Jayson Tatum, a 75 Years of the NBA insert of Dikembe Mutombo and two of the very nice 75th Anniversary Blue parallels of Nerlens Noel and Deandre Ayton.
Later in the box we pulled our only Pink Pulsar Prizm–this one featuring Orleans Pelicans guard Kira Lewis, Jr., who is continuing to recover from a torn ACL he suffered last year.
We pulled five Prizm Silvers in all, most notably Philadelphia 76ers semi-star Tobias Harris.
We didn’t manage to pull any cards of Cunningham or Giddey or any super low serial numbered cards but the box held a fairly solid selection of rookies. It’s nice to see (and open) a full box of cards with a reasonable amount of cards at a cost of under $150, especially when the word Prizm is attached.
That being said, we didn’t get great value out of this box at the current price.
