Brief Box Break: 2022 Chronicles Baseball Hobby

Last week we received the brand new 2022 Chronicles Baseball in hobby box form. While Chronicles isn’t a favorite of box flippers and those who don’t care for non-MLB licensed products, it’s a lower cost product that usually makes for a fun rip as it incorporates over ten different Panini card brand designs into one product. Chronicles delivers multiple autographs and rookie cards.

The 2022 hardball version offers four hits with three autos and one memorabilia per box, on average. With six packs per box and eight cards per pack, this will be a relatively quick rip.

We sell these for a $112 per box in store and $116.99 online..

The Break

The first pack yielded a nice Bobby Witt, Jr. Rated Rookie card from the Clearly Donruss brand.

The second pack had a few nice rookies including Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz and Detroit Tigers future star Spencer Torkelson.

Our first hit came in pack number two as well and we pulled a really nice Contenders Fame Ticket autograph of Tiger young pitcher Matt Manning numbered 5/5.

Pack number three had our second autograph card, which was a really nice Connor Wong Studio card numbered to 99.

Anybody that’s read my work over the years knows my affinity for the Studio cards, so it’s nice to see these back in packs in any form.

The next pack offered a really nice insert of my favorite current MLB star Shohei Ohtani with a Contenders Optic red numbered to 99.  Our third autograph came in the same pack when we we pulled a Contenders Jake Meyers autograph Draft Ticket, also numbered to 99.

The only downside is that all of the autographs we pulled were on stickers.

The next pack was full of rookies as we pulled multiple Spencer Torkelson cards, multiple Oneil Cruz rookies, our first Wander Franco rookie and more. Not many products offer multiple–but different–rookie cards of the same player in a box. I mean, can you really complain about that?

It’s always great to pull Cruz stuff here in Pennsylvania because we have collectors waiting for his new cards. One quick call will have any Cruz card we pull quickly sold.

Our final pack held the memorabilia card which featured Astros star Yordan Alvarez from the Limited line.

Just as we expected, 2022 Chronicles Baseball provided some fun with a lot of variety and a bunch of rookie cards.

We got the advertised amount of hits and we will come close to making our money back in terms of value.
