Sports Card Release Calendar: 12/3/21

While future release dates are just about all in the “tentative” category thanks to the ongoing supply chain issues, new sports card products are still on the calendar as we head through the first half of December.

Here’s a look at what’s currently scheduled to arrive.

December 3

2020-21 Panini Mosaic Basketball

Originally scheduled for release in mid-September, ’20-21 Mosaic has pushed into the ’21-22 season.  Each box has 10 packs with 15 cards per pack.

On average, each box should have an autograph, five Silver Prizms, 15 Mosaic Prizms and 20 inserts.

There’s a First Off The Line version with exclusive content and blaster boxes, too, with examples of all being offered on eBay.

December 8

2020-21 Panini One on One Basketball

December 8 will be a big day for releases with four products currently scheduled to arrive.

Another holdover from last season finally arrives with One on One offering a pretty simple configuration once again: boxes have just two cards: one autograph or auto relic and one base, base parallel or insert.

The popular Downtown inserts can be found here, along with rookie patch autographs and Timeless Moments cards that feature some of the top moments in NBA history.

Boxes have been running $900-$1,100 online.

2021 Spectra Football

Spectra offers a fresh dose of this year’s NFL rookies in their pro uniforms.  Each box has four packs with four cards per pack.  A typical box will have one RPA, three additional autographs, four memorabilia cards, one insert and seven base/parallels/variations.

Look for on-card autographs with Champion Signatures, Illustrious Legends, Sky High Signatures, Vested Veterans Autographs and RetroSpect.

Boxes are currently selling for $1,300-$1,350 on eBay with First Off The Line boxes higher.

2021 Topps Chrome Black

Chrome Black is, as you’d expect, a darker take on the regular Chrome product.  Each box has four cards:  two base, one Refractor parallel and one encased autographed card.

eBay pricing is currently $130-$140 at the low end.

2021 Topps Heritage High Number

Blaster boxes have already surfaced at some retail outlets.  As for Hobby boxes of this annual post-season release that serves as an extension of the regular Heritage line,

Hobby boxes of 2021 Heritage High Number will again carry 24 packs with nine cards per pack. Each box will have one autograph or relic card. Prices have been running $100 or less.

December 15

2021 Bowman Inception Baseball

The prospect version of the Topps’ inception line, this one is printed on foilboard stock. Hobby boxes of 2021 Bowman Inception will have just one pack, with seven cards, all featuring youngsters.  Look for 2 autographs, 4 base cards and one parallel.

At present, boxes are lining up at around $200 on the lower end.

2020-21 Flux Basketball

Once a part of Chronicles, Flux gets flexed into a full, standalone release. Again, this one is part of the 2020-21 release schedule thanks to ongoing delays.

Flux hobby boxes will contain 10 packs with five OptiChrome cards in each pack including one autograph.  There will also be a box topper inside, which could be an autographed card, an insert or parallel.

Boxes can be found on eBay for pre-order at around $350.

2020-21 Upper Deck MVP Hockey

The lowest cost product among the new releases, MVP makes its annual return with 36 packs per hobby box and six cards per pack.  Retail and blaster boxes will also be available.

While its primarily a set builders product for collectors on a budget, there are some chase elements.

Look for 2021-22 rookie cards, including divisionally-themed Rookie Redemptions cards and the  rare 2021 NHL #1 Draft Pick SP Redemption cards.
