Sports Card Release Calendar 5/4/22

A busy month of new sports card releases continues with some traditional lower cost favorites, but also some higher end products.

Here’s a look at what’s currently on the schedule:

2021 Panini National Treasures Football

Arriving three months after the LA Rams were crowned NFL champions, the sport’s popular, high-end brand arrives. Hobby boxes of 2021 National Treasures Football will contain three autographed cards, three memorabilia cards, one base or insert and one parallel or insert parallel but in its preliminary information, Panini indicated collectors might see a little more than that.

Rookie Patch Autographs are always the big draw. This year, there will also be Crossover RPAs, utilizing designs from previous year’s NT products across multiple sports.  All RPAs are numbered to 99 with lower numbered parallels possible.

Hobby boxes are currently available on eBay starting at around $4,600.

2022 Bowman Baseball

Blaster boxes have already hit the market, but Wednesday is Hobby and Jumbo box day for 2022 Bowman, which is highlighted by Chrome Prospect and Rookie Autographs.

There are two configurations available again this year.  Hobby boxes will have 24 packs of 10 cards with one autographed card while Jumbo boxes will contain 12 packs of 32 cards including three autographs.  Prices for both are noticeably up.

2021-22 Panini Court Kings Basketball

Splashy Court Kings returns as the playoffs shift into high gear.  Each box will have one pack with ten cards per pack.  Most will have one autograph, one memorabilia card, one rookie card, two inserts, one parallel and four base cards.  Each rookie will have four different style base cards as once again, Court Kings will present them in four tiers (I, II, III and IV with the latter being the toughest to pull).

Boxes are currently running about $440 on the low end.

2021-22 Panini Crown Royale Basketball

Panini’s second NBA release in five days arrives with Crown Royale, famous for its die-cut cards.

Boxes will have one autograph, one memorabilia card, two inserts or parallels and four other cards.  Rare Kaboom! inserts can be found here, along with Rookie Royalty, Sno Globe, Test of Time, and Pivotal Players.

Boxes are currently at around $700 on eBay.

2022 Topps Tribute Baseball

Each box of Tribute will have six packs, with three cards per pack.  Every pack will have a hit–either an autograph, auto relic or relic card–in addition to two base cards.

The base set will have 100 cards.

Highlights include Tribute Stadium Signatures, which feature images of past and present big league ballparks along with a relic piece and player autograph.  Look for box toppers randomly inserted that include original 1953 Topps cards inserted into a 2022 Tribute Frame.

Boxes look to be hitting between $425 and $500.

2021 Panini Select Football

Each box has 12 packs with five cards in each.

A typical Hobby box will have two autographs, one memorabilia card, ten Silver Prizm parallels and five other prizms.  Zebra parallels will be case hits.

XRC Mystery Redemptions are possible, with winners receiving some of the first cards of the 2022 NFL Draft picks.

There’s a cheaper Hybrid option, but Hobby boxes check in at north of $1,000.

2021 Topps Dynasty Formula One

Topps brings its Dynasty brand to F1 with each box carrynig a single signed card, numbered to 10 or less.  The card will be an autograph or autographed relic of a top driver or team principal.  There are dual relic autos as well as dual and triple autographs, too.

2021 Topps Dynasty F1 will include pieces of driver suits among its relics.

Boxes look to be hard to find and a bit pricey when you do at $5,500 and up.

Also scheduled to be released:  Topps Bundesliga Soccer (5/4); Sage Hit High Number Football (5/4); Donruss UFC (5/6); Donruss Diamond Kings Baseball (5/11).
