Sports Card Release Calendar: 7/6/22

Three new fully licensed baseball products are among the new sports card releases set to arrive in the coming days.  Here’s a roundup:

7/6/22

2022 Topps Definitive Baseball

Near the top of the high end releases each year, 2022 Definitive comes in a single eight card pack.  Six of those are autographs or autograph relics.  Every card in the product is numbered to 50 or less.

Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb and Roberto Clemente are among those on the Cut Signature roster. Our full preview has a checklist so you know what’s possible for your investment, which at the moment looks to be in the $1900-$2200 range.

7/8

2021-22 Panini Prizm Basketball

Prizm arrives a couple of weeks after the end of the NBA season, with 12 packs of 12 cards each per box.

Always serving up plenty of shiny, 2021-22 Prizm offers a mountain of parallels.

Prizm Hobby boxes will offer two autographed cards, 22 Prizms and ten inserts.  Current online pricing is $1,350- $1,450 per box. There’s also a First Off the Line edition with some exclusive content. Rookie Signatures cards will only be found in Hobby boxes.

7/13

2022 Topps Pristine Baseball

Now here’s a blast from the past.  After a 16 year break, Topps Pristine is back on the calendar.

Each six pack box of the 2022 edition will contain two on-card autographs, one autographed relic, ten Refractors and five inserts.  Every pack will have either an encased autograph, an encased Pristine Refractor from the base set plus two more base parallels or an autographed relic card.

Boxes being offered online are starting at around $390.

2021 Topps Archives Signature Series Retired Player Edition

Part of the multi-tiered Archives Signature line, the Retired Player Edition is a simple concept:  one previously released Topps card, now hand signed by the player, foil stamped, serial-numbered and enclosed in Topps Authenticated casing.

It’s among the more reasonably priced products of the year with boxes starting at around $85 online right now, but of course, whether it’s worth the rip depends on what you get as the checklist is a mix of greats and guys who might be memorable, but not that valuable.

2021 Panini Chronicles Football

Borrowing designs from Panini’s other products, Chronicles arrives five months after the Super Bowl but at least collectors who’ve been hankering for a new football release will get one.

Look for six packs of eight cards inside each Hobby box of Chronicles with a content makeup that should look something like this in an average box:

– 2 autograph cards
– 1 memorabilia
– 4 numbered parallels
– 26 inserts
– 2 silver parallels

Hobby box pricing is currently running $500-$550.

Other products set for release between now and June 19 include 2022 Prizm WNBA (7/15); Select Draft Picks Football (7/15), Leaf Trinity Baseball and Soccer (both 7/8) and  2022 Leaf Signature Series Soccer (7/15).
